Extension and complete refurbishment to chalet bungalow in Barton-on-Sea

We started this project on the client’s search for a property to make their new home. Whilst they were viewing properties, we were doing all the necessary research to ensure the extension/changes would likely meet the Local Authority’s approval. Once the perfect property was found, we began the plans to transform a rundown chalet bungalow into their forever home. Their vision was to retain a living room to the front of the property and a large, open plan kitchen/dining area to the rear opening into the garden. Originally we looked at a flat roof extension with roof lights but it didn’t achieve the wow factor we felt the property deserved. We then came up with the idea of a dual pitch roof, which although met with scepticism at first, soon met the approval of the clients, the planning officer and even the contractor at the end!

Full plans were drawn up for building regulations and a schedule of work produced, which were then sent out to tender. A contractor was appointed and his costed schedule of work was then referred to as ‘The Bible’ throughout the project. Both clients and builders could refer to this and always knew where they stood with costs.

The project took 4 months to build and the property is now unrecognisable, every single aspect of the house has been refurbished. Some lovely finishing touches chosen by the clients, such as the kitchen and flooring, complete this successful project.
